‘Stuck’ is an exploration on the meaning, appearance, and feeling of being stuck. These 3-Dimensional pieces were ideated, sketched, and painted while studying abroad in Tokyo, Japan in the Summer of 2024.

After a semester of dealing with art block and creating work that I wasn’t proud of, I felt creatively and emotionally stuck. Taking full advantage of my inspiring experience in Japan, these paintings were my means of healing and finding joy in creating again. Processing my mental state led to an exploration in breaking beyond the typical restraints of a canvas and tapping into my love of bright colors and simple forms again.

Being stuck isn’t always a bad thing, nor is it a permanent thing. Feeling stuck can be a stifling thing for me, but those moments I’m finally able to break free often result in beautiful and meaningful things.
